I'm Yotam,
graphic designer

with a decade of experience in branding and logo design, blended with my passion for print and illustration, I provide cohesive design solutions across a spectrum of media disciplines, serving clients in diverse industries.

branding

I craft unique identities that leave a lasting impression. together with my clients, we develop a distinctive brand personality, ensuring it stands out with versatile branding that works seamlessly across both physical and digital applications.

logo design

a logo is the face of a brand or project; it should be memorable, meaningful, and designed to withstand the test of time. it must also be smart, ensuring it looks great whether printed, on a website header, or as a profile avatar.

print matter

print matters more in a digital world. people connect better with things they can touch, keep, and cherish. in my design, i embrace the qualities of the tangible world, such as texture, size, and weight, to create experiences that people want to take away.

illustration

I help people express themselves through images that tell their stories and add a personal touch. I create custom illustrations for marketing materials, editorial content, and branding elements, and artworks for projects, books, or music.

vendibles explained

project by photographer Michael Endo Weil, exploring the silent presence of vending machines in the Japanese landscape. over a period of one month, Weil documented an element often relegated to the background, elevating it to the forefront of his photographs.

the project's focus lies in its thoughtful design and layout. In order to facilitate easy production and on-demand printing, the author opted for a standardised file format, eschewing unique binding features in favour of simplicity and versatility.

the book is divided into three time frames — morning, midday, and night.
this narrative draws parallels between the daily routine of the common individual and that of the protagonists — the convenience vendible machines.
this is a 'day-in-the-life-of' sort of story, while also introducing the occasional fact.
the typographic parts were made using a 1950s typewriter and scanned together with all the imperfections to be incorporated in the book. the wabi-sabi-like properties give it the authentic 'case study' look I associated with the project.

the Viennese Art&Design gallery hosted the Tokyo-based ikebana artist Toru Watarai, for a discourse about the Japanese art of flower arrangement. Watarai held a workshop where the participants practiced ikebana under his guidance.

our design took the bronze medal of the A' Design Award

the lead illustration used on the poster, was inspired by the traditional 'blueprint'-like drawings ikebana artists typically use to plan the composition of their artwork.

the restaurant of the Golf Club of Semmering in Austria is offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner to the members of the club. All made of locally grown wholesome ingredients.

the retro look has more to it than a hipster fab. Semmering has long been a favoured getaway for artists and thinkers from across Europe.
the arrival of Jugendstil to Vienna at the dawn of the 20th century, prompted the culture-rich Semmering community to bring over the latest fashions to their alpine town.
people began adorning their windowfronts with the decorative aesthetics of the era. in Semmering, this has been largely preserved to this day, defining the unique character of the town.

Chinese specialty restaurant by the chef Xuewen Gong, arriving in Prague from the Chinese province of Chongqing.

Gong, who'd grown weary of the mediocre and greasy image of the Chinese cuisine in Europe, had brought with her the warm atmosphere and distinctive flavors of her hometown, manifested in the form of a traditional dish known as Xiao Mian.

Wen wanted her restaurant's identity to break through the prejudice, and be different, memorable, and representative of her food and individuality.
Wen chose to address her brand's message at the younger food lovers generation. I found my inspiration in the aesthetics of the modern Chinese food scene. the design is edgy and characterful, yet it maintains a clean, sleek line.
the design was received very well by the chef as well as the crowds, and stood out boldly in Prague's food scene.
during its opening month, the restaurant took the city by a storm. the exquisite food and memorable branding caught the eye of the major publications (such as Forbes, and Vogue) and local food blogs.
now, less than a year later, Wen's empire is expanding, making waves in neibouring Germany and Switzerland.
I kept collaborating with Wen to develop and enrich the brand.
together, we'd expanded Chi Xiao Mian's unique illustration bank over time. Wen could use these graphics for her marketing endeavours, communicating her story in a bespoke visual language that quickly became synonyms with her brand.

Müllbauer hatmakers ― product catalogue

catalogue

Müllbauer, a Viennese hatmakers since 1903, have seen a significant popularity growth amongst Japanese fashion traders in recent years. a new market comes with new requirements, and apparently, the Japanese vendors voiced a curious one ― the need for browsing catalogues mid-air, aboard an airplane, where space is a limited commodity.

nonetheless, Müllbauer's clients have grown used to spreading a large catalogue on their warehouse walls or hanging it for display at their shops. two opposing needs from a single item that called for a multipurpose design.

special thanks to Karolina Hajdinova, the designer with whom I collaborated on this proposal project.

printed on an A1 sheet and folded down into a little booklet, the catalogue is easily browsable in a page-by-page format.
when folded out however, the booklet turns into a wall-size poster that lays out the entire collection at one glance.
the backside also features an artwork by Müllbauer's talented photographers, suitable for display at any shopfront.

personal project which I designed into a book of my photographs. this book was bound in the Netherlands, by the book binder Wietze Fopma with my help. together we bound 100 copies by hand, using traditional book binding techniques and unique printing technologies. the spreads were joined the other way around, which allowed for the special opening mechanism of every page.

this project was the catalyst, through which I discovered my passion for books and print design.

this book tells a wordless story, offering three points of view, this story captures the twilight dancers as they flit through the night sky.
the photography in this book freezes a moment. the reader, the photographer, and the subjects, each gets their individual perspective of every moment.
as the reader turns the page and another moment is presented. first, they watch what they see.
but unfolding the inner page reveales the photographer's and subject's personal perspectives.

Hanečka's displayed his collection in a daily fashion show during the 7-day Vienna Design Week event, featuring the Austrian jazz singer Betinna Krenosz, as part of the Vienna Design Week programme.
